Our Organization
The World Dressage Federation is an organization for the rider and/or competitor and equestrian owner who is searching for a more classical approach to Dressage shows as an alternative to present-day organizations. Competitions will be educational in nature will allow members to compete world-wide under a judging criteria that is based on the founding principles of training.
We want to get back to the roots of why it is the best for the horse to “learn Dressage”. We give competitors the opportunity to compete against others from around the world but not at the expense of their horse (or their wallet). Horse’s often experience an incredible amount of stress during competition – between trailering, adjusting to a new facility, living in small stalls, and having the pressures and expectation of performing at high levels. With this alternative platform, members will have the opportunity to show their horses in a way that removes many of these added stressors and sets horse and rider up to perform at their best.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create a competitive platform, based on Classical Foundation Training, that adheres to the principle that the horse’s back needs to be engaged in all movements. Rules of competition are built around progressive gymnastic movements that that keeps them connected over their topline. This allows the horse to be ridden in a relaxed manner regardless of their level of development. Correct training is emphasized with ANY horse, ANY breed, ANY discipline and judged based on that horse’s particular abilitiy and training.
Our Beliefs
Whether your horse is your “best friend” and you want to improve him and make him the best he can be or bred to have the conformation of a “star” in the show ring – the playing field is leveled by the rider/trainer’s ability to work the horse properly, first and foremost. Good training is rewarded by the judges, because it improves the horse’s athletic ability and protects the horse physically as well as mentally.
Our Classical Foundation Training
Classical Foundation Training videos are on our educational page. The educational page covers in-depth topics from ground work to upper level movements. Members will have access to video demonstrations that cover specific issues and techniques that are not available to the general public. Members will also have access to our resident Vet Corner and Farrier Corner advice service.
Our Shows
World Dressage Federation shows will be held online and will offer four levels – Foundation, Working, Collection, and Master. All levels will emphasize fundamentals of engagement, impulsion, relaxation and suppleness. As the levels increase, competitors will see increased difficulty in the movements that are being asked – but the importance of these qualities in the horse and rider will remain. The tests are based on a system of training that ensures the foundation principles are being met. If followed correctly, this will provide the rider with a training system to follow through to the highest levels of engagement without causing undo damage to the horse’s body. There will be four shows held per year plus a championship show.
